I'm lucky enough to have all of the Bookano Stories, and other books with pop-ups by Brown. I wrote a book about him many years ago, Theodore Brown's Magic Pictures, and in the '80s met two people who had known him in the 1930s. That's wonderful. I haven't caught that series yet though we were addicted to the original one back in the 70s. (I remember on "Newhart" that one actress who was pregnant when her character wasn't had to carry around a full laundry basket much of the time. One thing I really appreciated about "Sense and Sensibility" (the one with Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman et al) was that Hugh always rode the same horse. Which made sense as most people would have their horse or maybe a second but not an endless variety.

However, a friend of mine who trains dogs always gets distracted and cross because in that same film, the scene in which a character is mobbed by many friendly dogs includes a breed of dog that didn't exist in the early 1800s.

Christina Wilsdonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02472802098557216513noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3981659012070333472.post-83583232153992762852016-10-24T07:10:10.057-07:002016-10-24T07:10:10.057-07:00Brilliant post. You're not along in wondering why things are as they are in the movies, but the thing about a piebald/spotted horse being impossible to have a double for makes perfect sense. Mind you, I have to say that I spent much of the War Horse movie muttering 'THAT'S not the same horse.'
